First of all, the basic idea is interesting and it was nice to read. As you ask for a critical look that is what I did. I have the following remarks:

"The gloomy and unsecured day of December drifted among Grathletown, especially for Mary Tackleworth. Mary of whom, had just moved into her new house, across the border of Iowa, The canaries, which was thousands of miles from her own home, all the way back in South Asia, and because of these dire consequences she missed her mother terribly." This part I don't understand, I suggest to rewrite it and make it simpler.

She received three very unusual presents from a delivery man yesterday;
As she hasn't opened the parcels yet, how to know they are unusual?

Finally, get rid of this part: "What’s happened that could cause the families bank organisational to turn up on my doorstep?’, ‘Why am I suddenly the centre of attention?’ Mary asked all these un-answered questions". It seems a bit too detailed to think like that in a situation of emotions and stress.

The way that I've found was to send them to a dry cleaners because home remedies in this area are not delicate enough for what you are trying to do. The right dry cleaners will know exactly what to do. Stay away from the ones that think to long about it cause they havent a clue.. Good luck.

This is a very difficult one, I tried researching IT but everything I read said, You could use Dry Cleaning solvent on satin, but if it is something that is glued , if the solvent penetrates it , It will melt the glue. So I 'm sorry I can't do anymore that that. My own suggestion would have been alcohol, but now I'm not sure ..And they did say never to use water, as that will stain the satin.

wow, that is a tough one. i too am the family klutz so i know how you must feel. it sounds like a promotional thing that was probably circulated only in the area or maybe sports stores. i think your best bet is to find someone via the internet who deals with twins memorabelia or sports memorabelia. you could try e-bay but you never know what you'll get. check out the local b.b.card stores or card clubs in your area as well. they may be able to tell you where to look. i wish i could be more help to you. i hope you find it. happy hunting.

Well, the tree isn't going to have the smell of pine, so the smell of the outdoors won't attract them. The reflection of the aluminum tree itself isn't as tempting as the long tinsel hanging from a tree either.

The shiny objects on the tree might attract them, but I don't think you'd be taking any more chances than you would with a pine Christmas tree. If you are worried, you might want to do as I did one Christmas and tie it to a stairwell or something else sturdy. If you use fishing line it won't show. (And put unbreakable bulbs on the bottom of the tree.)

BTW I love the idea of the retro tree.

I have one of these trees too (and the wheel), though mine is only 4 feet. We put it on the train platform, so it seems taller. Sadly, the cat is no longer with us, but when he was here, he was too old to care much about the tree, aluminum or not.
